Humans are a very social species who like to come up with many different words to explain specific things. While we could just use the words “sitting place”, we as a species have decided to come up with words like bench, couch, love seat, and chair to explain specific different types of sitting places. Once you know the different words, it quickly helps distinguish what is being talked about.

We have chosen to do the same thing with gender. It is useful to have labels to explain these very unique specific experiences that we have when it comes to gender. It also helps to quickly share these ideas with others and help others understand what we are experiencing.
