So what if a solar flare hit earth?

If a big one hit, it would knock out all our satellite communications. Or worse. Small ones do hit us occasionally, though.

Would a flare make it through our atmosphere?

Idk. If it was big enough, I'm sure it could.

I always thought they should teach more about the sun in school. It's a VERY important part of life here on earth. Shouldn't we try to understand it more?

Yes, they should. Like the benefits of vitamin D, but also the dangers of skin cancer. But all things in moderation, right? I also wish they would make solar power cells more affordable and efficient. I live in Fl., where you think it would be a great deal, but it's more like a big scam, with not enough of a return. Go figure...
