Geez, and people hated on Animated Optimus?

Unicron Trilogy Optimus Prime was the Larry David of the TF franchise.

Yeah, Unicron Trilogy Optimus was good in Armada, and he was harsh but well-intentioned in Energon.

In Cybertron, though... BOY, could he be a jerk at times. In the episode Hero especially. I get that the universe is in danger, but you can't just sabotage a planetary custom just for a freaking key!
