Traditional northern European religious practice is unusual in that there are 2 rival pantheons worshipped by different people. The elite & ruling classes revered battle obsessed Deities called the Æsir. The working class venerated gentle,
magic using Gods known as the Vanir. The legends depict them as bitter enemies at 1st, but they eventually joined forces against the threat of the Frost Giants.
