Honestly, anti-tank dogs weren't that bad of an idea, but the problem is, the Soviets didn't have any German tanks lying around, so they used Soviet tanks to train them. Considering their tanks ran on diesel and the Nazi tanks ran on petroleum, the dogs almost always ran at Soviet tanks.
