Try ten thousands. You do three Hordes as part of the story that have 300 Freaks, so that's 900 right there. The largest Hordes you can find elsewhere have upwards of 400 Freaks, so there are several hundreds more. Not counting, of course, how many Freaks Deek has killed before the events of the story.

'Nother note: I have sold over 20,000 Freaker ears over the course of my two playthroughs (you sell the ears for camp credits, they're called "bounties"), and that's between two playthroughs that weren't even 100%
