Older flagships = Better build quality, better performance, better display, better camera
Newer midrangers = Better software support, longer lasting battery, includes a warranty,
now it just comes down to which ups attract you more

Well I like a good balance of performance and battery (Battery life is terrible on my SE 3, even at 97% battery health). I could stay with Apple and buy the iPhone 12/13, or I could switch to what I had before, a Motorola G Stylus 5G (That had a very good battery and performance for what I paid for it).

There's also the a35 which has better battery life than the flagship s24 (Saw in a battery drain test video).
I only had 1 phone of my own in my entire life which is the iPhone SE 2 which I still (albeit rarely) use to this day, it has great performance for the price but pretty bad batterly duration, didn't have experience with anything with batteries other than tablets

Well yeah, the SEs are notorious for their battery life I've heard. The SE 3 (Which I have currently) only improved from the SE 2 slightly. Even with the a15 chipset it has (Same as the 13), it still has poor battery life.
