NOT really. When you look at any other western country, IF you do not like what your party is doing, there is more than one choice. Here in the U.S.? We take what the far left and far right give us.
A few decades back Italy had a severe problem. They had six major parties. No one candidate could win enough votes to be prime minister. Several votes, and 18 months later there was still no elected Prime Minister. The government could not function.
Italy is a parliamentary system. The UK and Germany are multiparty systems, that don’t have the problems that Italy has. The problem with Democrats and Republicans is they don’t want to form coalition governments. They want total control.
It’s a hard thing— the two party system only allows— at the end of the day— two people regardless of quality. It’s why the USA’s future has to be to walk away from the two-party system. It can’t survive in this new age. - Denver Riggleman
