I did marching band in highschool. I was drumline.

Getting up at 7 in the summer.
Going until 10pm at football games.
Reputation of only nerds and weirdos in the band.
It doesn’t teach you anything.

I don’t miss it.

I’m mellophone line, only freshman there. We’re practicing all throughout the summer in blazing heat from 5 until 10 at night, and none of us have had dinner. We are all extremely thirsty and hate being so sweaty but our perfectionist directors (yes directorS) are forcing us to do everything right. I hate it here lol

Then quit 🤷🏻‍♂️ if they’re practising that hard then they can lose you, and when they lose the whole band they’ll wonder what happened and maybe they’ll fix it

I mean like we’re going to Indianapolis for a concert

I’m not because I actually kinda want to do this, just so we can do concerts and shit

All for a reputation that the marching band is full of nerds and socially awkward people.

Even if that’s a correct reputation, you don’t have to go through all that work to be perceived as one.
