Biden did not have an open primary…RFK tried to challenge and they screwed him from even being on the ballot is some states. The voters didn’t get a say, just like 2020, 2016 the primary was rigged and screwed Bernie, 2012 Obama ran unopposed. 2008 was the last primary ppl voted, and they still rigged it screwing Hillary right after the establishment crowned Obama.(Ted Kennedy endorsement) 2028 will be the first primary in 2 decades that dem voter MIGHT have a chance to vote for their choice. I don’t want to hear crap about anyone else destroying “democracy” from the least Democratic Party in America.

The fact that there aren't any serious contenders - and no, RFK is not a serious contender - during years when a president is running as an incumbent isn't new or different. Reagan ran without meaningful opposition in his primary 1984, Clinton in 1996, Bush in 2004, Obama in 2012 (as you pointed out), Trump in 2020, and now Joe in 2024.

In either case, how parties run their primaries and select their candidates -is- up to those parties - that's how the founders built it to work.

2012 Romney 6 opponents…ppl voted

Bush 00 had primary opponents…ppl voted
Dole 96 had 3 opponents…ppl voted
Bush sr 92 had 5 opponents…ppl voted (darn no new taxes)

Reagan 84 had 4 opponents…ppl voted

2024 Biden had 1 they took him off the ballots…no vote

GHW Bush was the only incumbent on your list that faced a serious primary - none of them attended primary debates, and all except he took their primaries with > 90% of the vote.

If your history were better, you might have realized '16 Trump, '12 Romney, '08 McCain, '00 Bush, '96 Dole, and '80 Reagan weren't incumbents.

The gop didn’t take ppl off ballots they allowed the ppl to vote. The “non serious contenders” got less votes and bowed out. Only the dems removed candidates not allowing the ppl a choice.
