The reason they are there in the first place is to make you get out of your car and move them or pop your tires so you have to stop your car. You die/get robbed in both these situations and are left stranded. Best case scenario, you either find space to drive around if you’re lucky or you turn around and find another way.

Those are nail boards on the road. You don’t find those on a road unless someone purposefully put one there. There is usually at least one armed person waiting for someone to pass by and stop when they see the boards.

No. Police spike strips don’t even look like this. These are literally boards with nails in them. And police don’t just leave spike strips out, the only do that when there is an active chase that has escalated to the need to use them.
