Not to be racist but technically there were no black Samurai. Just saying (please don't cancel me because if you cancel me for saying that you cancel several consecutive years of history).

Think about this though. Assassin's creed games have never been historically accurate. This character was a real person, even if he wasn't a samurai. Ubisoft has gotten the roles and positions of historical figures mixed up several times before, and no one even cared. Why is it so much worse now than it was those times?

Because (again, not to be racist) it is geographically and biologically impossible for samurai to have been black, since all Samurai were Asians, specifically Japanese (of course). Technically, making a Samurai a black person is racist to both Asians and black people. There is a loophole, however, since I'm pretty sure most of the Assassin's Creed games take place in simulations. So, the whole black samurai thing would be the least of our concerns, and isn't even consequential if the game you're talking about also takes place in a simulation, since the fact that the world is a simulation nullifies any historical indescrepancies that may be present.

Also, I notice that a lot of people who are mad about this are simply misunderstanding the situation. They say that Ubisoft didn't use a Japanese character for the protagonist of a game that takes place in Japan because "they don't see Asians as human beings." However, this is not true. Ubisoft clearly just wanted a black protagonist for their game so they could look good by having diversity in their game, but they simply failed to think this one through, as always.

Well, like I said, if this game takes place in a simulation, then lore-wise all historical discrepancies are nullified and don't matter. If Ubisoft didn't think of Asians as humans, then they wouldn't have made a game that takes place in Japan. Simple as that. I know it's lazy to label the discrepancy null because it's a simulation, but it's true. If I make a simulation, then I have liberty to make anything I want happen in that simulation. If I make a simulation where 9/11 didn't happen, it's not because I don't think 9/11 was important (I actually think it was a tragedy). It means I'm trying not to focus on the negatives because I'm depressed and anxious enough without the number of lives lost on 9/11 dwelling on my mind and keeping me awake for nights and nights on end.
