Only thing I’ve known about gundam is when I played gundam evolution. So I probably won’t fact check you. I guess my first question is what was the purpose of the GMs?

To my knowledge they're the main grunt unit of the good guys way back in the first mobile suit Gundam anime, variants of them show up in various other Gundam anime such as the jegan and nemo

How about the purpose and secondary purpose of the GM Command?

Yeah, primary role is self-explanatory. Secondary is colony defense, which led to it having weapons designed not to breach the colony walls.

How about… which two Gundams are equipped with the ZERO System?

I got bored of it. It became less Gundam fights and more sci fi politics.

Ah. Most Gundam series have a fair amount of sci-fi politics. G Gundam is much more combat focused (though also laughably ridiculous), and a lot of the OVAs are more action-driven.

People kind of turned on Wing, and it’s been a long time since I rewatched it, but I remember liking it overall.

You might also want to look into 00. It has a lot of similarities to Wing (most notably a team of main pilots, who are arguably terrorists, whose Gundams have specialized roles and begin with technological superiority over the rest of the world), but with mid-2000s animation and designs, and more of an even mix (there’s politics in there, but side-by-side with the action, no lull in the middle).

I feel like part of the reason people watch G Gundam is the skintight suits they have to wear when they pilot the gundams. I've seen some clips from it.

Eh, not sure they’re meant as fan service, if that’s what you mean. They are an interesting and unusual take on input devices, since most Gundam timelines just have the kinds of controls they did in Wing.

Okay yeah that is a little. But almost every pilot is male and the women are either one-episode or don’t usually wear that.

Never got into the Build ones. Probably more appealing to people who get gunpla.

I mainly found out about build fighters because of the metaverse kits
(Specifically the shin burning Gundam)

Not surprised. Dunno if they ever made a model kit for it, and Gundam X is sadly not well known in the US (it has a lot in common with Wing though, especially design-wise, so if you liked that you may wanna check it out). Lol also it was only in one episode. But I always liked it just for being so different.

This one kinda reminds me of evangelion.

Also sadly even though wing did air in the US there aren't that many models from it either. to my knowledge there are only four or five RG kits, and the only high grades I've seen are of the main 5 gundams from the show

That’s unfortunate. There are many more that deserve it, like Epyon, several of the mass-production MS, etc.
IIRC Wing wasn’t as popular in Japan as the US, so that’s probably why.

What's really frustrating is that most of the kits that DO exist are premium bandai, meaning everywhere I can actually find them will be hella expensive

(Also there are two epyon kits. A master grade and a real grade. Both are awesome, I've built them)

Love that suit. (Well, design-wise. Far from my first choice in a game since it lacks ranged weapons.)

ehh, I prefer melee weapons since they're better for poses. I haven't played any of the games

Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn was pretty enjoyable, if you like crowd fighters. Unfortunately they haven’t made any new entries in that series since then.

Also unfortunate that most Gundam games aren’t released outside Japan.

Not the same, though. There’s a lot of appeal to using favorite pilots and MS.

And yeah we do get some Gundam games, but only a small percentage and mostly just fighting games and team battle arenas, never any of the strategy games and rarely any of the narrative ones.
