"This happened around 2003 but I'll never forget it.
My friend was caring for a stray cat mom who had a litter of kittens. They had a thin wooden porch door and a mosquito screen door.
This is in south america in the early 2000s so people don't neuter their dogs. The neighbor's pitbulls reproduced and had inbred dogs running all over the neighborhood. This isn't uncommon, there are stray dogs everywhere in that city.
The kittens got to an age where they were meowing a lot when they were being fed .The front gate was closed but the dogs dug underneath the floor of the outer wall and broke into the house. (Venezuelan houses often have an outer security wall). They ripped apart the porch wooden door and the screen door, and ate 5 kittens and killed the mother cat.
The grandpa brought a bat to hit the dogs but even being hit they wouldn't release the small cats. They only stopped after they had eaten all of them. And one was resource guarding the dead mother cat. They finally got them out of the house, and tried calling the authorities but you know how it is in Venezuela nothing gets done."
