Planning is interesting to me. I don't plan, which has taught me to improvise and be adaptive. That's good. But some things can't be done without a plan, so I can't really do those things unless someone else is leading the project.
On the flip side, I've seen single-minded devotion to "the plan" completely derail a project because the leader won't adapt to conditions as they change. Plans are important but there needs to be enough flexibility to allow for minor adjustments or, if necessary, throwing plan A overboard and moving on to plan B.
