**how it works**
the patient is placed on a bed where there are wires plugged into their head—note they do not feel it. they are put to sleep and there are tv monitors that show what is going on in their head. the other person in the room chooses the criteria for generation (ie “a story about their experiences on may 12” or “level-based progression”) and has the option to record what is going on in the game. the patient is in the game and can control themselves in it and react to what goes on in it. the game generation pulls from their thoughts, memories, and experiences and generates according to criteria inputted. if none is, the game will generate something based on the present and the most common feelings of the patient. the other person in the room [irl] can forcefully end the game, but the patient may also wake up from gameovers or something else wakes them up [in the game]. the manager may restart the game and force the patient to fall back asleep, thus resuming/restarting the game.
the game is primarily used in medical and mental institutes or prisons, but someone may pay enough money ($600 for one try) for a private attempt. due to the complex and sensitive nature of the game, the results and equipment are oft not released to the public.
