I would love to do so, I've gotten into DnD podcasts recently anyways, and DnD stuff is on my b-day list, so yes, I'd love to. You would have to be lenient - several aspects of DnD confuse me, so I often look things up as I go along and immediately forget whatever I learned about it.

It's all made up anyways. In the words of Barbosa,"they're more like guidelines than actual rules"

Fair enough. I would be down to do it, and I would like the chance to improve my skills.

Also what's confusing you?

The various types of dice rolls, some things with levels, and discrepancies between different versions or volumes or whatever they're called where the guidelines change and the whole system for how things work gets shifted around.

I'll need more specifics on the dice issue, but the editions thing is just the different iterations of dnd. 1st edition is the first ever version of dnd, 2nd edition is the sequel, so on and so forth. We would be playing 5th edition, which is the most recent version.

Okay. As for the dice thing: I get the whole d20 and d6 thing (a d20 is twenty-sided, a d6 is six-sided), and I'm pretty sure if you say "1d6" it means I roll a d6 and add 1 to the result. But I don't understand advantages or disadvantages, or where good becomes bad (Obviously, on a d20, a roll of 20 is good and a roll of 1 is bad, but where does good turn to bad?),

For the number thing, 1D6 means the roll requires 1 six sided die. 1 denotes number of dice, d means die, 6 is the number of faces. If I said to roll 3D4, you would roll 3 four sided dice and add up the results. Advantage means roll the die twice and take the higher value, while disadvantage means you do the same thing, but take the lower value. As for when good turns bad, it just depends on what you're doing and what your character is good at/their stats. You can roll high, but still fail, or roll low, but still succeed.

Ah, okay. That makes more sense. So, I think I'm prepared. I can look things up as we go along if needed. I'm ready to start when you are. I believe character creation is in order first?

Yep. Won't be ready for a while though. Wifi and free time is kind of iffy right now, but should be ready sometime soon. In the meantime, look up jocat on YouTube and watch "a crap guide to dnd" it should explain everything about the game that would come up in gameplay, and even help you make your first character. They do cuss a fair amount though, so be warned.

Got it. Thank you. Also, I curse a lot myself. I'll be fine. As for character creation - I'll go ahead and knock that out. I'll tell you the end result of my character in our memechat once I'm done. See you later.

For example, attacking somebody while they're stunned would give you the advantage, but trying to attack that same foe while blinded would put you at a disadvantage
