Video game addiction is a real thing. If you’re skipping work, school, family, cleaning your house, meals, and other chores you need to do to survive just for video games, that’s the very definition of video game addiction. Addictions can be anything, and they can be video games.
That being said, the question is: are the games the CAUSE of the addiction? Or are they the end result of something else?
My IRL friend who I’ve made posts about plays video games literally all day. Not because he loves it, but because his parents helicopter over him and never let him meet up with friends unless they drive him places. Does he have some blame? Yes, but his parents have basically ruined his social survivability and pushed him towards video games.
