Prepare for some US History.
Here is the short TL/DR version of it. The guy on the left is Chief Justice Taney, his time on the supreme court led to the election of Abraham Lincoln to the Presidency, Lincoln's election kicked off the Civil War.
The guy on the right is Chief Justice Roberts- the weakest and ineffectual chief justice in US history. Under his supervision, the Supreme Court has become a corrupt institution that has lost the trust of the people.
Here's the longer TL/DR.
The fella on the left is Chief Justice Taney, widely considered the worst Chief Justice in US history. Why? Because he authored the Dredd Scott decision. And as you're Danish and reasonably ask, "WTF is the Dredd Scott decision?!?"
Basically, it said, "Black people are property, not people, so they don't get any rights. The Federal Government doesn't have the authority outlaw slavery in any of the areas it directly controls. And the courts can't free someone because property doesn't get Due Process."
It's the Dredd Scott decision that led to the Republican party forming and getting enough support to elect a majority in Congress and a President within a few years. The slave holders saw what was coming and decided to go to war to keep owning people.
So, there you go. Taney, one of the key reasons for the Civil War starting and Roberts, overseeing the corruption of the Supreme Court.
