Thomas Sowell would have been the greatest president of the last two centuries.

Definitely the most intelligent. But the last two centuries would include Washington and Jefferson and it's kind of hard to beat them.

Sowell is getting kind of old. We need to find some way to clone him before he passes away. What would be awesome is if we could clone him 546 times. One clone for president, one for vice president. 100 for the senate, 435 for the house and 9 for the supreme court. That would fix nearly all of our problems.

Washington was president April 30, 1789 – March 4, 1797, and Jefferson was president March 4, 1801 – March 4, 1809, so I'm not in agreement with your math, just saying.

Otherwise, good idea!

Oops. I was wrong. Two centuries ago from now would be 1824. John Quincy Adams was president.

I don't know much about him but I know his successor was Andrew Jackson who was the reason the symbol of the Democrat party is the jack-ass. There were political cartoons of Jackson as a donkey and they were calling him a jack-ass. For whatever reason Jackson like it and made the jack-ass the symbol of the Democrat party. Which is entirely fitting.

Jackson was responsible for the deaths of millions of native Americans and contributed to their mass relocations to reservations.

But we had some decent presidents in that two century time period. I don't think that any of them were as smart a Sowell. Warren G Harding and Calvin Coolidge were exceptional presidents. Reagan was really good. And that's about it.... I guess for a Democrat JFK was probably the best that they have had since the beginning of the 20th century.

Biden is perhaps the dumbest president we have ever had. And I am not talking about his senile years. The man has been a blithering idiot his entire political career.

No worries! You were probably just thinking that if he'd decided to get into politics, he could/would have been president many years ago. That seems intuitively valid.

To your last point, politics seems to be either for idiots (Biden, Pelosi, Waters, AOC, etc, etc) or people who've proven themselves in other professions and decide to give it a try (Regan, and others).

Finally, the great Thomas Sowell was on a higher level, and probably just didn't want to descend into the filthy muck of politics. And that's certainly understandable.

Cheers!

They actively decide to not know and still have the nerve to act morally superior to us, as if being dumb is some kinda award to be won, a race to the bottom.

Quoting Rand just turned your whole comment into an object lesson.

I agree! A shame that everyone will think it’s talking solely about the other side when it’s a brilliant commentary on the US political climate as a whole

That is true. However, there are not many facts and analysis based on facts coming out of the left these days. This is evidenced in how to a whole lot of conservatives, Bill Maher is making a little more sense than normal. Maher has moved to the right, the left his moved farther left and away from Maher. Maher is calling them out with the same stuff that we, on the right, have been saying all along.

But there are people on the right who cannot articulate their position nor do they understand it. That happens when they mention something about economics and my jaw hits the floor on how wrong they are. Too much actual mis- and disinformation (as oppose to the lefts' propaganda campaign to silence any opposition) about economics comes from the main stream media.

He's right, but you're wrong about why you think he's right...
