Pride is a protest. Corporations have nothing to do with Pride Month, they're doing what capitalism always does, leech off the vulnerable. Pride marches are a symbol of our history, and that we are still fighting for rights. Dismissal of that is disrespectful to our queer elders.

That's more of a newer problem. It wasn't always like this. There are still plenty of beneficial things to pride such as celebrating how far we have come, learning about lgbtq people and history, learning about new terms, listening to music/going to shows, meeting people at lgbtq events, supporting local artists, raising money for lgbtq charities or attending a protest.

Why the f**k is there a political discussion
0 ups, 1mo
Millie said she wasn't a fan of Pride Month because of capitalism and Cookie Cat responded that a communist system would be better, but that they were open to other suggestions. So I decided to give a suggestion about how I would ideally have the USA run if it was up to me. With my response, that organically started a political discussion.

I have a new idea that's basically presentation and voter-based. We just vote on every single thing over the Internet or at a voting building for people who don't want to or can’t vote over the internet. We vote after being told multiple sides of an issue so all possible sides are represented in a fair way. There are no more politicians in power who vote on stuff since we’ll do that. Instead, there are just elected people who give presentations on things we need to vote on and additional room for groups to sign up to give a presentation if it's a topic related to their organization/cause. After all presentations are given, it's up to us to decide yes or no. And you can't unlock the ability to vote on a topic until you watch every single presentation, so you are more likely to hear all opposing points and are more likely to consider how you actually feel/think about a topic. It’ll be called voterism or something like that.

i like this(is not going to read the rest of everything)

Each presentation will be sent in digital files to a device the government supplies like a tablet or something so that all can have access to the required presentations. It will make sure you click on every file, go through every click of a PowerPoint, and watch every video before you can access the voting area. To do so, on the technical front, it will keep track of the click rate and maybe how long you are on the PowerPoint page (not allowing you to click to the next slide unless a certain amount of time has passed). And for videos, sound on will be mandatory, you can't skip ahead and if you leave before it's done it won't count as you watched it. As annoying as it sounds, it will force people to learn from all sides before voting to make sure all voters have an informed opinion.

If done at a voting building, there will be movie theater-like rooms that will play the required videos and power points, before each voter is given the ok to now go vote on the topic/issue at a voting booth.
0 ups, 1mo
im thinking eveyone is givin a number at the legal age to vote. you cam only vote once due to the number being uniqe. just hard code it in so that you cant accsess the voting system untill all presentations are veiwed.

Potentially there would also be more advanced voter registration cards that you would have to tap or swipe on devices and maybe type in a password too for added security. For example, you would use the card on the government-issued tablet (or whatever device gets issued to people) to access your presentation files and to access the unlocked voting area link after the presentations are all done to make sure you are the person voting and to help you better keep track of your progress with the presentations that need to be watched.

There would also be a card tap/swipe required on devices at the voting building such as tapping your card on a screen before watching the presentations in the movie theater like area to log in everyone who is watching the presentations and to make sure everyone watches all the required material before voting. You would also need to use your card on the voting machines themselves to keep track of who is voting.

With today’s technology, I believe voterism (or whatever we want to call this) is possible. Getting others to agree that it's a good idea is another story since it would give politicians less control and give more control to people if they are patient enough to do all the required work to make an informed opinion. It would also give more power to organizations and give them a wider audience to share their views on various causes. And it would give more jobs to people in the tech industry & cybersecurity. But it would also require the government to be generous enough to supply free tablets to households and more permanent voting buildings would have to be built.

now that you bring it up i dont think that exlucively having it online is the option. you would need buildings for it. however what is stoping someone from just not going?

Voting in today’s modern world is optional. Not everyone who can vote will choose to vote. I imagine it would be similar with my hypothetical direct democracy/voterism idea.
0 ups, 4w
yeah i guess thats true...

This form of government is known as a direct democracy, and it's extremely hard to do in a large country for various reasons. However it has been used sparingly in some countries so for some issues it may be possible in certain quantities.
Another improvement would be national ranked voting. In this system you can vote for multiple people by ranking them. So if your first choice can't get enough votes you're not doomed to get a person you don't like in office. In this case your second choice gets the vote and so on.
Many other improvements can be made like
Idk
Maybe not letting big companies fund campaigns???!?
Just a thought...
0 ups, 1mo
also there are certain voting systems that are avalible. so we would need to think what that would be.
0 ups, 1mo,

I guess direct democracy fits. It's not quite the same thing though since my idea also has a heavy emphasis on having informed voters instead of just the general public who likely doesn't have all the facts before picking something. If you aren't willing to learn about a topic, you don't get to vote on the topic. And you wouldn't need as many politicians. The public could get informed from people directly involved with the causes, charities, organizations, scientists, business people, etc. A president or congressperson isn't likely going to have that level of expertise so why bother? Also, I don't think it’d be that hard with technological advances. Vote from home on a tablet via an app after getting informed about multiple sides of a topic and the machines will figure out what gets the most votes when the time is up. It's 2024 not 1924, it's likely possible right now.

I’m not sure. Likely it would just be done by individual countries unless we all decide to unite as one Earth ruled under one system of rules in the future (extremely unlikely any time soon.).

The reason why a republic is so effective is because of elected officials that make decisions. There are many reasons why using direct democracy is less effective over large numbers but the big issue with the online idea is voter fraud, also people likely don't have the time to vote on hundreds of bills. However you are right it would be nice to have researchers present to politicians directly.
0 ups, 1mo,

I can agree though that if democracy stays the way it is currently, it would be great to have politicians be more informed on each topic from multiple sides before deciding if they are in favor of something or not.

have it a community based politition system. the person makes attention to a problem and people think on ways to solve it. i woud make politions a position for problem solvers instead of problem snoosers.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Everyone doesn't have to vote on every single thing if they don't want to. It’d be for anyone who has the time and makes the effort to learn & vote. Once time is up, maybe in a week, whatever has the most votes wins, and if people don't like it, it's on them for not voting on something they “care” about. Voter fraud can be fixed with my voter card idea. It's how you get in the presentations area, the app keeps track of your progress on interacting with the presentation media and then you get a one-time link to go to the voting area after you complete the information learning process. Each account is accessed by a swipe/tap so everyone has their own accounts connected to the card. They don't need access with email or passwords which can be stolen and we could have a division of cybersecurity that is just in charge of the voting app.

card theft. and/or people who have multiple votes illigaly. howwould we solve this?
0 ups, 1mo,
1 reply
One voter card per a person with a one time use link (for each thing getting voted on) after they complete all the presentation materials might help eliminate multiple votes.

Our credit cards have sensitive data printed on the outside (credit card numbers and the 3 digit security code) which make them easier to steal, but if the voter cards do not have anything other than maybe a name on the outside, its harder to steal data that could be used maliciously or stolen to sell to others. While there are other ways to steal a card (such as physically taking it), not having sensitive data available on the outside of the card will cut down on probably more than half of card theft. It also helps that we won't be entering voter card info on websites to buy things or other sketchy sites that lead to credit card theft.

people can just copy emf tags but i think a way that you can stop this is by sending a code via email that goes along with it

On top of that an app can be hacked
0 ups, 1mo
Every since thing has pros and cons. While I’m aware an app can be hacked, it's much more secure without having an email and password requirement, and that it will need individual cards to gain access to the voting presentation material before getting to a one-time use link to the voting area. And obviously, we would hypothetically have a lot of cybersecurity in charge of protecting the app because of its importance.

Wdym it's on them for voting for something they don't care about? One of the most important reasons that we vote for representatives do lawmaking is that if someone's job position is literally to do that they have the most time.
There are reasons people may not vote that are not just"they don't care enough", people have things like jobs, school, kids, disabilities, and other reasons that they cannot vote at the time given. One of the main reasons that people don't vote in America is because they can't get the time. And so if we had only a direct democracy, we made discriminate against people who don't have the time, in politicians could use this to their advantage to get certain groups not to vote.
In a perfect world it would be a great system, but I don't think it is the best way right now.

0 ups, 1mo
If you hypothetically have a week deadline to vote on something and can vote from home on an app (which is what I’m suggesting), most people are going to have some time they could put aside to review the presentation material and then vote. Its also optional, meaning that everyone don't have to vote on every single topic. They can pick and choose which topics they care about because there will be many things to vote on.

Btw I mean no harm even though we have differing opinions. I actually think it's quite interesting to discuss the idea of a direct democracy. I just personally think that a republic has has the most benefits (it's most certainly not perfect though), however maybe if I saw a successful direct democracy in action I may be persuaded to change.
Thank you so much for talking about this with me.
