Accidentally Recorded Over Cassette

This is a true story...

I'm guessing it was a recorded cassette and you either forgot to remove the clip or put tape over it lol

It was actually a retail prerecorded cassette that I bought from my local music shop. I have no idea how it actually recorded, but it's possible that the cheap boombox I had did not have that safety feature. It was a bummer at the time, but I got over it.

why did you put tape over the protective tab? (or fail to remove it when you made the copy)

It wasn't a copy, it was a prerecorded, retail copy. I did not put tape over it. Either the cassette had a plastic tab on it or the boom box I was using did not have that security measure in place. It's been a very long time so I don't remember about the tabs. My brother and I both had copies of the tape and we tried playing them at the same time, but I accidentally hit record. Afterwards I rewound it to start it over again and I could hear myself saying "it's not playing". At the time I was super upset that I had recorded over the begining of a song.
