Hey, how about using a tavern? 😉
If this is a serious question, one of my best pieces of advice is to actively involve your players in campaign creation. Have them help worldbuild.
Let the players help create the city their characters are from.
Instead of restricting what races are available, let players choose their PCs' races, and then build around those choices.
If someone is a noble, let them design the royalty in that city, and decide where they fit in (or don't).
Have one of the PC's family own of the tavern they start out in.
Let your players tell you what sort of monsters, plots, and themes they're into. And then make a world around that.
This unloads some of the worldbuilding work on your players. (You've got enough to do, right?) It also helps invest players in the setting, so they're less likely to want to go all murderhobo and wreck it.
Happy gaming! 🙂
