This is where I get into my little rant.
As a PC gamer, you have more power than any company wants you to know. That power is called piracy.
You can pirate the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Sonic Generations literally right now. So I don’t understand why people are scared. If SEGA delists the game, just pirate it. They have clearly shown that they don’t want you to buy the game, so they should have no problem with you stealing it.
Piracy is actually what makes PC such an independent and lucrative market, and it has the capability to keep companies in check. If the public decides they don’t like a game or a practice that a company does, they can just pirate a game or ignore it. PC gamers are the true arbiters of what goes or doesn’t go.
It happened with games for Windows Live when Microsoft tried to charge for online services.
It happened when the Wii U and 3DS stores got taken down.
It happened when Epic Games made their own launcher and tried exclusive games. People just waited for them or pirated them.
Companies and publishers will try to shame you into thinking that piracy is wrong or it hurts people. But like everything else, you can ignore them. All they’re doing is yelling at you, and you can choose not to listen. Because at the end of the day, whether it’s morally right or wrong, piracy is power. There’s no need to be afraid of companies delisting games when you have all the playing cards. Don’t buy Sonic Generations on Steam. All they’re trying to do is scare you into giving them money, don’t let it happen.
