Paladin: No I am not, I've Just finished the expedition

Vivia: *nods* that's great to hear, Sir Paladin! say, i hope your not busy, because i need to assign you with a task. do you think your up for it?

Paladin: Of course!

Vivia: *claps* oh goodie! well then, you see, there is this dragon devouring the kingdom.

*Vivia's tone turns sad*

Vivia: i have sent many brave knights to battle it, but im afraid none has returned...not in one piece, at least... but i have heard your feats, Sir Paladin! your fought off a demon horde and lived to tell the tale! which is why im assigning you to kill that terrible dragon.

Paladin: Yes Ma'am I will not let you down!

Vivia: *perks up and claps* wonderful! when would you head off to battle and what would you need before fighting the monstrosity?

Vivia: *sighs* you see, there is this awful dragon attacking the west side of the kingdom. i have sent many brave, wonderful knights and warriors to defeat this monstrosity but...im afraid they met their young deaths. but i heard to the feats you done. so i am asking you, will you accept the task of eradicating this evil sin? i am willing to supply you with whatever you need to kill it, and you shall be rewarded greatly if you do kill it.

Nicholas: I will do my best. *he bowed a bit* But your majesty… I am no god… I cannot guarantee that my fate will be any less than.

Vivia: that's why im willing to supply you! and trust me, we have......quite a lot of weapons you can pick thanks to someone...

*He knelt down in front of her, removing his helmet and holding it under his arm.*

"Yes, your highness?"

*You notice that the horn on his helmet was missing its tip.*

Vivia: great! although, I notice your helmet seems damaged....

"One of the bandits had this crazy sword. He got a lucky hit. I took care of him, though."

*He never raised his head as he spoke.*

(As for why he kept his head down, my side of the romance plot is that Lucas has a crush on Vivia, which means he doesn't like worrying her. He has a rather big gash on his face from the guy who sliced off his horn, but his honor as a knight and respect for authority means he always removes his helmet when he's speaking to people like Vivia.)

Vivia: wonderful job, Sir Lucas! I hope you weren't too injured. shall I get the nurse?

*He flinched slightly, still refusing to look up.*

"No, your highness. I was unharmed."

Vivia: *claps* Wonderful! say, Sir Lucas, would you mind doing a task? yes, im afraid it may be difficult, but im willing to supply you with whatever you need for this task...erm, if your willing to accept. will you?

*He still kept his head bowed as he spoke.*

"Of course, your Highness."

*Vivia perks up and smiles*

Vivia: Wonderful! when would you like to start you venture and would you like anything, like some weapons or something?

"I can go as soon as possible."

*He still didn't lift his head, whoch was starting to seem suspicious.*

Vivia: that's great, but are you sure there isnt anything you would like bring with you? im sure we have some overpowered weapons in the weaponry.

"I said I don't need anything. I'll be fine."

*His head still remained down. For a brief second, Vivia swore she saw something on bis face...*

*Vivia gives him a soft but pleading smile*

Vivia: please. i insist.

"Insist on what?"

Vivia: i insist you get a weapon, or at least something to defend yourself. i know you already have some but...this...beast...it's nothing like you've seen...

"I can deal with it."

*He lifted his face slightly. Vivia could see what looked like a large scar on Lucas' face.*

*Vivia gasped*

Vivia: oh my goodness Sir Lucas, what happened?!

*He instantly dropped his face again.*

"I-I do not onow what you are talking about... nothing has happened to me..."

Vivia: Sir Lucas. Rise up, and look at me.

*He hesitated, then slowly rose, revealing the gash over his eye. It was fresh, and still blood red.*

*Vivia looks aghast*

Vivia: oh my gods! what happened?!?!

"...The candidate landed a lucky hit when I removed my helmet. I didn't want to worry you... so I tried to hide it... I am sorry, Highness..."

*Vivia looks shocked, concerned and horrified*

Vivia: oh my, you poor lad!

*Vivia gestures to one of her masked guards*

Vivia: please, get the nurse.

*the masked guard nods*

"No, it is not necessary."

*Even as he spoke, he winced slightly. A small drip of blood trickled down his face from the gash.*

Vivia: no, no, you need to heal, Sir Lucas! please, you might bleed to death!

"Y-you're right... I am sorry... please, send for a nurse..."

*The more he spoke, the more blood began to trickle from the wound.*

*Vivia nods, concerned.*

*a nurse comes and motions you to follow her*

*He leaned on the nurse.*

"Vivia... come with me... please..."

*Vivia nods and comes with Lucas*

*He nearly passed out on his way to the castle's infirmiry. He dropped his helmet on the way.*

Vivia: oh!

*Vivia picks it up and sees the blood on it. she sighs*

*The gash kept bleeding as he leaned more and more on Vivia instead of the nurse. He closed his eyes.*

"I... I need to sleep... I feel... so tired..."

Vivia: no, dont! you know what happens when you sleep. you'll likely die! stay strong, Sir!

"So... tired..."

*He was fighting sleep now. His eyes remained closed, but she could tell he was trying to stay awake.*

*they get to the castle's infirmary. the nurse patches up the scar, stopping the blood*

"Vivia... need... sleep..."

*Vivia consults with the nurse. the nurse nods and Vivia looks relieved. she nods*

Vivia: it may be safe for you to rest now..

"So tired..."

*With that, he fell asleep. He had been holding Vivia's hand, but now his hand let go of hers.*

*Vivia sighs, relieved*

*He laid there for hours, not waking up, but still breathing.*

*Vivia stayed by his side*

*He remained asleep for the rest of the day, and the next day, and the day after that, and the day after that.*

*Vivia had to go once a while to rule her queendom, but once a while she comes in and tried to wake him up*

*Each time she failed. But each time, his breathing was steadier, and his bleeding was less.*

*Vivia sighs and mutters*

Vivia: when will he wake up...?

(Doctor) "Hard to day... could be weeks."

Vivia: oh dear...poor lad.

*Lucas began to stir.*

*Vivia perks up*

*He opened one eye.*

"Wait... Vivia...?"

Vivia: yes, it's me...

*He blushed a bunch, but simply didn't have the strength to hid his face.*

"I-I'm terribly sorry... I spoke out of turn... I forgot my place... please forgive me, Highness..."

Vivia: no, it's okay. your disoriented. it's been many days.

"Many days...? How many...?"

Vivia: more than a week, im afraid...

"A week...? I... I am sorry..."

Vivia: oh it's-

*a masked guard appeared*

Guard: Your Highness! We're Under Seige from the dragon!

Vivia: has everyone evacuated?

Guard: Yes, Your Highness!

Vivia: Get Everyone out of the Infirmary.

*two guards helped Lucas stand up*

Guard: we need to get you out to safety, your Highness!

*Lucas threw the hands off of his shoulder and took his helmet, which was still missing its horn.*

"I shall deal with it."

Vivia: no, dont. your still weak, Sir Lucas!

"Highness, with all due respect, I have to ignore your request."

Vivia: i...wha-? but why?

"I never run from a challenge."

*He put his helmet on, took the sword the guard was holding and ran out.*

*Vivia was stunned of such bravery*
