The focus of most schools is learning, regardless of whether or not what you learn correlates to accomplishing anything. Schools focus more on whether you follow their rules than whether or not you get results. That's why they make you show your work when doing math, even if you can do all the math problems in your head and you use up several times more space and pencil lead showing how you got the answer than showing the actual answer.
If you hate being in school so much because of this, you'll enjoy the workforce much more. When you're on the job, all most bosses care about is that you get results, regardless of the steps you took to get them.
