I just gave a response about that specific phrase. Let's call it a modern misunderstanding of a time past.

I thought about the lyrics a bit and I maybe see what you're getting at. "Little girl" didn't always specifically mean a child.

Little can refer to someone's height or weight. Think of it this way, there's a phrase that goes "Ain't you a pretty little thing?!". That phrase, while maybe a little outdated, is talking about a girl's or woman's appearance and weight/height being pleasing to the person who said it. In this context, "little" has nothing to do with her age.

Also, back then if someone is "your girl" it meant that you were exclusively seeing each other like you are a couple. Even today you have the term girlfriend which also uses girl in the word and doesn't refer to someone's age. Adults don't call their partners their manfriends and womanfriends...

For more context, the song it's self is from one of Elvis' movies and both love intrests are not minors.

My b as well. I should have taken into account that it could have been misunderstood before posting.

I'm a fan of old school retro things (music, movies, games, books, etc.) so I'm quite used to hearing old terms/phrases to the point that it doesn't always click with me that it might not be something understood by everyone. Next time I post about something older then say the late 90s, I'll give it a closer look to determine if any more additional context is needed.

In conclusion, Elvis' movie character is just singing a song about having feelings for two beautiful women and terminology changes over time.

I'm really into stuff from the past so I didn't even think about how it might sound to people who aren't. Thats my bad I guess for not giving some historical context when I posted this.
