Yes I know. People are mad because most of it is free, meaning if Japan would update their copyright laws it wouldn’t be a problem, but because of how Japan’s legal system works, Nintendo’s forced to protect all of their assets like this which is why they constantly go after fan games or tournaments that aren’t approved or hosted by Nintendo or other big game events because they don’t want to risk a Universal losing King Kong scenario. They should get over it with time as leadership changes within the company but right now Nintendo knows they’re sitting on a goldmine with Gamefreak’s Pokémon and Mario, Kirby, and Legend of Zelda, all of which other companies want at the same time and are looking for a way to take those IPs from them.
