Actually, Bill Clinton paid Paula Jones $850,000 to settle a lawsuit she filed accusing him of sexual harassment. This was very publicly filed and settled. He was also impeached for having sex in the Oval Office with Monica Lewinsky. He was not convicted in the Lewinsky case, He was not adept in controlling negative stories. He was re-elected, none-the-less.

In my opinion, Clinton's sexual misbehavior was worse than Trump's. A boss having sex with subordinates is a rules violation, as it should be, in almost every employment setting. People in job settings can be attracted to each other. It was Clinton's responsibility to defuse the situation. His pattern of behavior shows that he was unable to do so. The Republicans nominated Senator Bob Dole from Kansas to run against Clinton in 1996. Dole's curmudgeonly demeanor hid the fact that he was a god guy. He was a conservative from a small state, a Disabled WWII Combat Veteran. He looks good, on paper, but he had such an awful public presentation that the uber-charming Clinton won by a landslide.

Trump 's actual "offense" is similar but different. I don't think anyone believes that Stormy Daniels or Karen McDougal would have anything to do with him if he wasn't a rich media personality. But he was not Governor nor President, like Clinton, when he had his affairs. Where he went wrong was the "cover-up." His arrogance in thinking that he is above the law, is also a problem for him. His attempts to cover up a botched burglary cost Richard Nixon his political life at the zenith of his power and popularity. I don't agree with your "double standards" claim. A majority of Republicans will vote for Trump as they did for Dole in 1996. Biden will get most of the Democrats' Votes. Your arguments may appeal to MAGA GOP partisans, But, it reminds undecided or uncommitted voters of Trump's misbehavior without telling them why they should choose him over Biden.

IMO... they changed the law deliberately to bring charges against Trump... because the law he was supposed to have broken had a time limit that ran out... and that equates to election interference... that's their goal, Larry.
