Road To Mastery (5) - Short Story

Hello, this happens about 5 hours after the semifinals.
James has reached the true battles.
And maybe, the end of his Road To Mastery.

It was time.
James needed to win 8 matches to win his branch and pass on to the Super Finals.
Naturally the first match was very different from the semifinals.

Announcer: And here we have our Finalist: The Traveler! A new contestant that seems unstoppable!
And here we have our other Finalist: The Demi-Warrior! A mysterious fighter, he too is a new contestant!

James: I feel his power, he's no ordinary fighter. He's a real strong one.

Demi-Warrior: He's much stronger than anyone I fought before. He's a demigod for sure.

Announcer: ….3…2..1
..BEGIN!

They both stayed there, looking at each other.
Demi-Warrior: He's hiding his true power. I know that he is. So I'll show him my maximum first!

*Demi-Warrior got into a “charging up” position and energy started crackling in the air*

Suddenly with a burst of energy, he mutated, he mutated into a weird monster tall 10 feet.

James: This doesn't give me flashbacks

The 10 foot monster charged towards James preparing an attack.

James: *he charged up an energy blast*

He pointed his arm towards the charging beast, and with one word: “Epekteínoun”, the energy orb grew bigger, it was surrounded by rings. This attack was called “Expanded Light Blast”°.

James shot it at the beast. The beam of light burnt the beast’s skin, almost carving a hole through its body.

The monster reverted back to normal and fell down to the ground.
*10 seconds passed*
Announcer: Demi-Warrior is knocked out! Yet another victory for The Traveler!! He is truly unstoppable!

The next match was easier. But the third was a pain.
James had to fight a God named Psári. More 10 feet shenanigans.

This match was an hour long. At the end did a variation of the Teleporting Suplex, the “Kinetically Charged Suplex”°°, and with that almost destroyed the arena.

The rest of the fights were hard but easy.

But now, oh boy. We get to tough one.

Announcer: Ladies and Gentlemen! We are at the final match of the Finals! Whoever wins will proceed to the Super Finals!! Here we have *points to James* The Traveler! A strong demigod which we don't even know his full potential!

And here *points to the other contestant* We have our other finalist! Paul Marcus! An extraordinary human!! How has he even gotten this far?! We'll find out who is the candidate for the Super Finals in about 5 minutes.

-Intermission-

°Expanded Light Blast - With the word “Epekteínoun”, which means “Expand”, he can increase the power of a normal Light Blast to its full potential.

°°Kinetically Charged Suplex - Similar to the Teleporting Suplex. Once he grabs his target, he teleports in rapid succession for his every movement. Instead of lifting his target up normally he teleports him into the air. About 100 teleports per second.
This greatly increases the power of the suplex but loses the ability to do it in the air/under water.

-End of Intermission-

Announcer: Get ready because these two fighters are going to battle for a spot in the Super Final!

Now fighters! Get ready!
….3…2..1
.BEGIN!

Paul dashes towards James at incredible speeds, James barely dodges but is immediately hit in the face.

James recovers and teleports on top of Paul, grabs him by the arms and teleports him into the ground.

Announcer: The Traveler seems to have smashed Paul Marcus into the ground! Will Paul get up?

James teleports away.

Paul jumps out of the ground with barely a scratch.

James then teleports in front of him and delivers a powerful punch to Paul's gut.
But Paul counter attacks by grabbing James' arm and uppercutting his jaw.

James is stunned for a bit and Paul takes advantage and delivers a devastating combo.

James returns the favor with an even stronger combo! He also uses his Awakening Technique!

…This goes on for quite a while. Like those scenes in Dragon Ball where they clash.

James is knocked out by a fast left punch to the face, James almost falls out of the ring.

*7 seconds pass*...
Announcer: Incredible! The Traveler has got up after a devastating punch to the face! He could have lost it all!
James gets up. He's bleeding from his mouth, nose…

Paul dashes towards James, but James suddenly teleports in front of him, with a mad bloody expression, charging up an energy blast.

Paul is caught off guard.
But the most stunning thing is, for a split second, James' hair changed color…

The energy blast went right through Paul's chest, right through his heart.

The arena fell silent as Paul's body fell to the ground.
The people inside the room in between the spectators were shocked. Yes they were judges, but there was one sitting on a sort of throne.

??? thought: Everyone is silent because of what happened to Marcus. The fighters are silent because of how The Traveler defeated Marcus when Marcus had the upper hand. I'm silent because… for a split second… I sensed his power grow far beyond any other I've ever met…

Some medics came to Paul, checked him and analyzed him.

He was struggling to breathe… and then… he died.

Announcer: Seems that by specific rules for the Finals… The Traveler has won by killing Paul Marcus… The Traveler will pass on to the Super Finals…

James walked off the arena, everyone looking at him.

The medics quickly took the corpse away and some other people started cleaning, others repairing the arena.

James prepared for the Super Finals, while the second winner of the Finals was announced, it was Krisi.

James knew he had to win.

Krisi wasn't just a bad person, he was a true villain. In fact, in every match of the finals, he killed his opponents.

And he was certainly going to kill James.

In about an hour that final match of the tournament would begin.

James didn't see how Krisi fought, but he knew that he was strong.
An evil demigod from another universe.

James didn't waste time talking to his friends, he went right to the arena.

Announcer: Ladies and Gentlemen! I welcome you to the Super Finals of this Tournament!
Who will be the winner? Krisi, the Strongest we've seen so far? Or The Traveler? A newcomer that has surprised everyone?
Let's remember all of you all that the winner will receive a special prize… The Divine Seed!

I hope you have some popcorn because this match will be fantastic!

The announcer ran off the arena.

James walked up onto the arena.
Krisi walked to the arena as well.

Announcer: ….3…2..1.BEGIN!!!!!!

James immediately used Awakening x1 and dashed towards Krisi, but Krisi quickly punched him away, clearly toying with him.

James: Then let's go to the max!

James used Awakening x6, the maximum power he could achieve.

He teleported to Krisi and delivered a combo, Krisi was kind of in difficulty but quickly regained control.

Krisi counterattacked with a combo of his own: A punch to the gut, an uppercut and a suplex.

James teleported away but Krisi immediately started attacking him again.

James dodged each attack, then punched Krisi in the face, sending him far away.

Krisi decided to go a little further.
He increased his power, a faint aura appeared around Krisi.

James still had the upper hand. They clashed again, each hit sending shocks in the air.

James seemed to get even stronger? Let's call this Awakening x6½.
He was overpowering Krisi, and with a powerful right punch to the gut, Krisi was knocked out.

Right before ten, Krisi got up.

Krisi: It seems I shouldn't go light with you.

Krisi got in a “powering up” position, his skin morphed.
His head morphed.
His body…

Announcer: Can you believe it?! Krisi is changing!

The arena started shaking, energy crackling in the air.

Krisi’s skin became like a black stone. Two horn-like things appeared on his head.

His body became spiky, his fingers became razor sharp.

Announcer: Could this be the legendary Divine Warrior of the myths?!?

Krisi suddenly appeared behind James and kicked his leg, snapping it.

He then punched him left and right, each punch probably cracking James' bones. The spectators were flabbergasted, they didn't know who to root for.

James counterattacked and stepped away.
James tried to power up even more, maybe getting to Awakening x7

But it was dangerous, if it failed he would have lost all his energy.
And such happened.

Krisi: Heh… it's not so fun if you can't fight back
Then, Krisi threw James high up in the air.
He jumped up to him and prepared a downslam attack, putting together his two hands.

James barely opened his eyes to see Krisi’s fists about to hit his chest.

Then Krisi downslammed James, James flew into the the ground, destroying almost completely the arena.

Krisi landed on the ground. He looked at James in pity.

In James’ mind, he could hear a voice…

“Get up”

“I-I can't… m-my legs…”

“It doesn't matter. You have to get up”

“You have to get up… NOW”

James’ femurs were completely cracked, a small hit could snap them. His ribs were all destroyed, his arm all cracked.

His spine is cracked and out of place. He can't get up, but he can try.

James tries to get up.

“Don't waste energy getting up. Teleport into a standing position”

James did so. He was barely standing up, he just was trying to stay in a standing position.

“I-I can't win… e-even if i t-tried”

“Remember why you came here. Remember why you won all those battles.
That man in front of you is Evil, even more than me. But you can defeat him”

“H-How?? J-Just look at how i l-look”

“He killed millions of innocents, he destroyed millions of families, he even killed a friend. If he wins, he will kill all your friends, family"

James was hardly breathing.
Meanwhile Collector had to go to the bathroom.
“Now, stop listening to me and remember what your mission is.”

James was trembling. He remembered what Krisi did, how many people he killed. He now understood why The Conqueror gave him his memories.

Krisi: What is it? Did I go too far? *He grinned*

James: … s-shut up
*He said with a trembling voice*
Y-You're a m-monster. You k-killed thousands of p-people… millions…
*His voice seems to be getting an angrier tone* I w-will avenge all of t-them.

I will s-stop you from getting t-that seed. I w-wont let you get any s-stronger…

I will defeat y-you… ARHG F**K IT
I. WILL. KILL. YOU.

*He screamed to the top of his lungs*
*The ground around him cracked but then stopped*

*James bended over, like if his body couldn't hold his weight*

*His body was flinching, almost like he was trying to gasp for breath*

*For a split second his hair changed color*

*The ground shaked, cracked*
*The air crackled with electricity*
*A sudden surge of power started to fill the arena*
*James kept on flinching, his hair still changing color for split seconds*

Announcer: It seems like The Traveler is transforming!!!

“I… will… kill… you…”

*James suddenly got upright again and screamed at the top of his lungs*
*He sent a shockwave in the entire arena, wind flowing everywhere*

*His hair changed color to lavender, it slightly spiked into the air and aura appeared around him of the same color*

The entire arena shook, but much more.
The multiverse was shocked by the transformation.
The multiverse vibrated.
Beings all around the multiverse could feel the power emitted by James.
Especially people like Inkmatas, Supernova and many more.

James stood there, silently looking at Krisi.

Announcer: I CANNOT BELIEVE IT! IS THIS THE LEGENDARY DIVINE WARRIOR!!?!?!??!

One of the judges asked the judge on the throne about the situation.

???: As i suspected. Yes. He has become a Divine Warrior. I've never seen it with my eyes…

James stood there. His hair flowing in the wind.

His friends were absolutely flabbergasted, not to talk about the other spectators.

But we'll see this epic battle in the next episode of DRAGON BALL-
