Road To Mastery (4) - Short Story

Hello, this is basically a few hours after, when the second rounds take place.

The second round was kind of boring.
James immediately won because his opponent chickened out.

The Qualifying rounds ended quickly, now onto the preliminary rounds.

James had to win 3 rounds to pass on to the semifinals, the first round was easy, the second was won easily too.

The third was peculiar…
James’ opponent was big… very big.
All physical attacks did basically nothing to him.
James: Not only is he extremely resistant *dodges an attack* he's also extremely strong, one hit could crush my bones

*Dodges another attack*

James: I'll have to use something different.

*He charges up a white energy attack and blasts it into his opponent’s face*

*With a small explosion, his opponent falls down to the ground*

Announcer: And we have a winner! The Traveler has been making a name for himself! He has passed onto the Semifinals!!!

And with that, James got ready for his next battle.
He met up with his friends, in particular Collector, Astra and data + Sap.
Collector: It seems like nothing's stopping you yet

James: *scratches his head* I haven't even shown half of my power

Data: Really?

Sap: You bet! He's super strong!

James scratched his head again
James: Well, based on the amount of people that passed the Preliminary rounds… *he stops a moment to think*

…I think there should be 5 rounds that I need to win to pass to the finals.

Collector: I know you'll win. *Pats James on the shoulder*

Collector: Now go, we'll be rooting for you

James was going to fight in the Big Arena again, let's hope his opponent will be strong.

Announcer: And here we have our first contestant! Xethra! *A weird looking female alien appears*
And here is our second contestant! The Traveler! *James walked onto the stage*

Announcer: Remember folks! Traveler has been defeating his opponents in under a minute! Let's hope this match lasts longer!

The announcer ran off

Announcer: …3….2…1..

..BEGIN!

Xethra immediately dashed towards James and attacked him.
James dodged her attack and counterattacked.
But his counterattack was counterattacked by Xethra which threw James into the air.

Xethra attempts to start an air combo, but James suddenly teleports behind her, grabs her from behind and does a “Teleporting Suplex”°.

James then teleports away to distance himself.

Xethra barely stands up and James immediately smashes her face with his knee, sending her out of the arena.

But Xethra stops in the air.
James: She can fly?!

Xethra floats back to the arena.
Xethra: You're gonna have to do more than that!

Xethra charges up an energy attack and blasts it towards James.
James deflects it.
Xethra dashed towards James and tried to hit him but James teleported away.

Xethra charged up one of her ultimate attacks “Bolting Wave”°° and blasts it towards James.
The beam had the form of lightning, and also its speed. It was purple coloured.
James catches it.
James: You call that a blast?

James throws the beam away, it explodes in the distance.
James: Let me show you what a true energy wave looks like!

James extendeds his right arm forward towards Xethra, in front of his hand a white energy starts to grow bigger and bigger.

Xethra is astonished
Xethra: H-He caught m-my strongest attack

The energy ball grew up to the size of a basketball ball. He then shot it towards Xethra.
Xethra got in a defensive stance and prepared to catch the wave.
She extended her arms and the wave hit her hands.
She was being pushed back, but she's able to deflect it.

Suddenly she's hit in the stomach by James' knee, then her arm was grabbed and she was thrown out of the arena.

Announcer: Xethra is out of the ring! The Traveler is the winner!!!

-Intermission-

°Teleporting Suplex - It's one of the moves that James created. He basically starts a normal suplex but right when the target is in the air, about half way the move, he teleports into the ground.
He can suplex in the air and in water this way or just increase the power of a suplex on the ground

°°Bolting Wave - A very powerful and fast attack. When it hits a target it will stun, shock and burn the target. The target will stay stunned for quite a while.

-End of Intermission-

The next couple rounds were hard fought, but won easily. Apart from the 4th and 5th.

In the 4th, Traveler fought a weird freaky alien which is apparently the brother of Xethra, his name is Uxtro.

He had the same strength but was mad at Traveler for defeating his sister.

The 5th opponent was named Xatra, sister of Xethra and Uxtro.
She was… peculiar. She is the strongest of the three, but she is very mad. Very mad.

The first few minutes were very very VERY destructive.
Xatra got tired after that and James absolutely destroyed her.
At the end her right arm was broken, her left leg too and she had back pain for all eternity.

Announcer: Xatra is knocked out!! The winner is Traveler! Traveler has passed to the Finals! Let's cheer for him!

*The crowd all cheered, while some booed*

James rested and waited for the Semifinals to end. He was one of the first few contestants to fight, so he had to wait until each and every match was done.
