Um...just looked it up. He wasn't vegan, but he was an avid vegetarian. He still had caviar after large meals, which is an animal product. The word "vegan" didn't even exist until after the Second World War in 1948 (and yes, there were probably vegans before then, but it wouldn't be much of the population, and there wouldn't be any definition for their practices). Maybe you should add a mod note pointing out this discrepancy.
