Use Roman or Greek numerals (or something similar that uses an alphabet with capital and lowercase letters)

You only need to remember I, V, X, L, C, D and M and how numbers work when they're next to eachother. Also, you've already memorised the lowercase versions of the letters, so you don't need to memorise them again
