"Hi." Eggy managed to say.
"Hi." Ove said back.
"I'm so sorry I couldn't have been here for you!" Eggy exclaimed as he hugged Ove.
"It's okay dad." Ove replied softly as he squeezed back. "I understand. I wouldn't have wanted you to see me in that state anyway."
"I know it doesn't make up for it at all..." Eggy said as he pulled out a bag. "But I got you some food."
Ove was handed a bag of McDonald's, he gobbled it down easily.
"I know McDonald's is your favorite..." Eggy said.
"Thanks!" Ove said with a burger in his hand. "Way better than the cafeteria food, heheh."
"Isn't anything?" Eggy said, trying to cheer Ove up.
"Fair," Ove replied. "But McDonald's is just especially good."
"Gotcha this too." Eggy said as he pulled out a piece of tupperware with a slice of cake. "Made it especially for you..."
Ove devoured the cake and smiled at his dad. Eggy smiled back. They chatted a bit more, before eventually Eggy got up and said goodbye.
"Well, it was nice talking with you. Especially after all of... this." Eggy said, trying to smile.
"Same to you dad." Ove said. "Love you."
"Love you too, Ove." Eggy said before he stepped out of the door.
As Eggy stepped our of the door, he could not hold it back any longer. He felt the tears rush down his face, as Ove was right. He could not handle seeing his son in such a state. Omeletta held him in her arms and tried to comfort him. She kissed him on his head as she cried too. This was the beginning of the mourning and guilt...
