That list refers to leftists he didn’t trust. As during his middle age and later years a lot of left movements or totalitarian movements pretending to be left like stalinists….had a habit of killing other leftists.

Orwell himself is a self declared socialist and many of his writings are pro socialism but anti totalitarian.

I’m not gonna say he didn’t make mistakes or was a perfect lefty by any stretch. But the point is that they are quoting a lefty religiously despite the fact they DESPISE anything even remotely left of them including “moderates”

Also the Greanville post is known to post a lot of conspiracies and pseudo science so not really sure why you cited an op Ed on a piece of literature widely to be accepted as anti totalitarian and not strictly anti communist. Even his most anti communist work animal farm wasn’t a warning against communism but the likes of napoleon (stalin) who hijack populist movements to acquire power.

Downplaying Orwell's anti-communism is what reactionaries want, mate. As far as I know, he wasn't even well read in Marxism so obviously he would associate right wing totalitarianism with left wing authoritarianism.
We (in the global west) live under right wing authoritarianism it's just called neo-libertarian democracy. It's just capitalism under the rule of the bourgeoise, the capitalist class.
