The first thing I thought upon seeing this intense portrait was "man, that's a man I don't want to mess with," and it's clear from every detail that that is heavily intentional. It wows me how the artist can go from something as stark as this to her next work, which is of a carefree young girl dancing. The near-minimalist use of colour in Henry's appearance gives him an extremely fierce and striking air. The look on his face even makes me feel a bit uneasy, as if I've done wrong, but seeing as he's supposed to be imposing figure, that means the artist has done a great job. His slicked-back hairstyle draws attention to his furrowed brow, and the blood spatter on his stark-white shirt is so realistic one begs the question of if that was even drawn at all... Just messing about. I know it is. Man, Henry is terrifying, but this is a great piece. Even his eyelashes are on point.
