Procoptodon goliah was a species of giant short faced kangaroo that became extinct during the Pleistocene in Australia. Evidence indicates that rather than hopping, it walked or ran. In addition to its size (erect posture at 6.5 ft - about the same as a red kangaroo, but two and a half times the weight) pushing the limits, leg bone structure with a single toed foot ending in a hoof like claw seems more suited for a walking gait rather than hopping,,,
They had a short face, even a pronounced chin, plus forward facing eyes, so somewhat resembling a primate. Unlike most kangaroos which tend to be grazers, they were browsers using elongated fingers to reach up to grab leaves and twigs to eat. Their shorter yet powerful jaws or for chewing this material. They mostly live (though not only) in open arid terrain.
They coexisted with Australian Aboriginals for at least 30,000 years before finally becoming extinct because the glaciers melted in the northern hemisphere so they had no more ice to eat and all that usual claptrap,,,
