Basic economics used to be understood by more people that were wiser and more knowledgeable than is currently displayed by half, or more, of our fellow inhabitants. 200 years ago farmers were able to debate the concepts outlined within our founding documents. Of course, the average farmer is still more intelligent and informed than many of the politicians, 'jounalists', or average college graduates.
