Politicians and appointees must have their manuscripts reviewed by the Feds for secrets. I saw that comment and could tell he knew he was lying as the words left his mouth. Biden could not use any secrets he found in documents to write or sell a manuscript. Publishers know this ahead of time. Biden's memoirs are marketable to some because of the "non-secret," insights he has gathered over a long and distinguished career of service.

I am surprised that you know so little about how our secrets are supposed to be protected.
I guess ignorance is bliss. It is upsetting that Biden lost track of these documents. Over his life in government, he must have had access to and/or control of thousands of very secret documents. But zero security failures should always be the goal. As a former custodian of records, I wonder why tighter controls are not in place. While pay stubs can have "confidential" information, all documents classified "Secret," or above should have a Due Date to be returned to the custodian. Due dates should be rigidly enforced. People wonder how Chelsea Manning did what she did. As lax as things appear to be it's a wonder that any if our secrets are safe.

Based on what we know for sure, we have no way of telling for sure if anyone is "guilty." We don't know who has security clearances and what their "need to know," was at the time they had information shared with them. I am almost 100% sure that between the jobs I have had, and my work with a cabinet officer, combined with the clearances my family had to get for a job my brother had, I have a pretty high level of clearance. But someone should not share any level of secret with me, unless I demonstrate a "need to know," for the job I am doing for the government. That is how it SHOULD work.

Anyone in the room when the "Shit hits the fan," will get some on them. We have all been in the room. We are all somewhat guilty. Some are just "guilier," than others.

Simple fact. When he discovered his error, he returned the documents to the correct custodian.
