Two suggestions if you are in the USA:

Take the NCEES Engineer-in-Training exam before you graduate.

Take the Professional Engineer exam as soon as you can.

Bonus career points if you take and pass the NCEES Land Surveyor in Training exam and Professional Land Surveyor exam.

Never too soon to have a plan for the future. I think you need to be half way through college to sit for the EIT and/or LSIT exams.
