The music industry's earliest attempt to produce
a prefabricated boy band was The Monkees
in 1966. The company actually put a classified
ad in a Hollywood newspaper for band members. In spite of being aspiring musicians, & some of
them having experience, they weren't even allowed
to sing or play their own instruments at first.
