Erm, actually...
Blowing on the game cartridge wasn't nearly as effective as it was made out to be. In most cases, the simple act of taking the cartridge/Game Pak/chip/whatever other terms were used out, or even turning the console off period, was what fixed it. In fact, blowing on the cartridge could actually make the situation worse, as microscopic saliva particles in your breath can cause the game board to rust, thus rendering it unusable. That's what happened to my copy of Goldeneye 007 for the N64.
