Ah! This one takes me back. My niece loved these films growing up to the point even I got a bit knackered of hearing of the adventures of Marty the zebra and Alex the lion, and it got even worse when I heard that they made a spin-off series. Nevertheless, I remember this character as if it were yesterday. My niece even had pijamas with him illustrated on them, and he seemed to be everybody's favourite, so it comes as no surprise that his high-energy nature and carefree spirit caught the attention of this fine artist, who captured his untameable spirit perfectly. His huge grin and the summertime vibe brought about by the backdrop colours add to the feel of a party that's only just begun. If I'm not mistaken, King Julien sings throughout the films, so I believe that this picture captures a moment in which our inexhaustible King is going to sing you a song - and do a little shimmy while he's at it - whether you want it or not.
