Al Pacino's Scarface has absolutely nothing to do with the others.

Have you watched the original film and compared the scenes they are identical. Now part of the novel is used in both stories although presented differently of course there is no brother story involved. They replaced Tony's brother from the novel and instead turned that character into a friend played by George Raft in the original and as Steven Bauer in the 1983 remake.

No need to apologize most people haven't read the novel or seen the original film. The big difference is that the story was updated in the 80's and instead of it being about alcohol running and gun running and busting up rackets Brien De Palma changed the story from Italian Mob related activities to The Cocaine Cowboys Cuban and Columbian crime wave.

What makes the original character from the 1932 film scarier in my opinion is that he has no vice, he can go off at anytime he's insane.

Also you know the blaring sound that you hear in the 1983 remake whenever Tony gets pissed off.

In the original film instead of the blaring sound he whistles a very haunting tune.

Thank you for sharing with the world the book that inspired the movies.
