Well when you think about it the entire world is actually built on lies and anyways you wouldn't like it very much if I said something like your head was humongously out of proportion so I would have to lie to you if I thought that because it's not a nice thing to say the truth in that situation
On the other hand, if I tell you that there are no long term consequences to rebellion against God. I would be living to you and not wanting what's best for you. That would be quite hateful of me.. towards you.
