God has abandoned him and forced him to suffer a fate worse than hell; become stuck in the deep abyss without any contact, forever (literally, he won't die). He occasionally has access to the outside world to cause chaos, but only from within the abyss. He is the root of all evil that happens in the world; we only thought it was Satan because of the scriptures.
