Sorry, Elon. Sorry IBM. You are wrong. I have worked remote 10 years and worked in offices for even longer. We live in a world where people can look at naked folks anywhere on the planet 24/7. But apparently no one can work without driving an hour in bumper-to-bumper traffic, to an executive's ego-trip office, which is often located in a demiliterized downtown area, where my lunch costs $30? Yeah, how about no!?? And stop spouting "collaboration" as a reason to return to the office. My boss speaks to me once a day and often once a week. I work on projects that are different than my coworkers (many of whom are offshore). There IS NO collaboration in offices anymore. Working from home actually spares employees from the corporate politics, drama, dress code, germs, and nonsense that breeds discontent. And my 11 year old vehicle has 49k on the odometer, rather than 130k like everyone else, because I am not tearing it up on a long drive twice a day. Plus, I don't have to worry about restroom breaks, my home is solar powered, and a sick kiddo is no big deal as no one has to take PTO. The antiquated 1960s biz model of task managers in 3 piece suits is over. I'm working while you're still stuck in traffic! And I am not burning gas, tearing up roads and bridges, or contributing to pollution. Give it a rest!
