I'm surprised that place hasn't started another pandemic yet, the amount of stress the animals take and the amount of people there seems like a breeding ground for some crazy new disease. The guy who started SeaQuest opened up an aquarium in Portland in 2012 and it shut down within a year because so many animals died, and the reason he started SeaQuest is because-get this-"There weren't many zoos and aquariums where my family could touch the animals". Like, wtf? This guy knows basically nothing about animals. SeaWorld is actually better because they actually give a crap about learning from their mistakes. They recently opened a park that has no orcas in Abu Dhabi, and they actually make exhibits that set new standards-penguin exhibits that mimic the seasons in Antarctica, dolphin tanks with tropical fish, trainers that give a crap about their animals (although the requirements to be a trainer are a bit questionable-you literally only need to now how to swim) a massive aquarium they plan to keep leatherback sea turtles in, replacing real animal attractions with *ahem* questionable welfare with virtual experiences (though not at the parks with the real animals-only at the newer ones)-meanwhile, SeaQuest just opens up new parks that still allow a bunch of iPad kids to touch and grope and stomp on living, breathing, thinking creatures like playtoys. No rule changes, no new standards. Literally all they care about is entertaining a bunch of complete braindead soccer moms and their single digit IQ children and making money. Some kids got bitten TWICE on two separate occasions by a giant otter-a species known to be quite aggressive if not taken care of well-because the barriers simply were too low. Just don't visit their parks. I'm not saying act like PETA and go do some stupid, shock-value based protest. Just don't visit, and tell your friends and family not to either. Hopefully they shut down soon. They are terrible, and just please visit a different aquarium. It'll be bigger, better, and much more ethical than this company. In fact, what town do you live in-I could find a better public aquarium nearby.
