everyone needs a place to be and a place to go to get away from where they are

I've realizing that my hobbies are really just distractions. Which is to say, my interest in them is tied to how much I want to avoid doing other things. When I'm free to pursue them at will, I quickly lose interest. As soon as a big obligation arrives, they're all I can think about.

It's part of the whole chronic procrastination thing. No project = no procrastination. It is sad that my interest in, well, my interests is contingent on more pressing matters requiring my attention. If I was free to do anything, I believe I would do nothing.
