Being extreme right in the USA is not the same as being extreme right in European countries. When extreme right is used in Europe, most people assume you’re thinking of parties like the Nazi party. That’s what they think of when they hear “right wing.” For them, most of our right wing is some of their left wing or moderate parties, they have a lot more choices for parties than the USA (which was what the USA’s political system was supposed to be but it’s always been 2 parties). For USA, conservative, extreme right, and moderate conservative all fall into one party which is not good, so it’s easier to generalize a whole party when half the country has only 2 parties to choose from. The same thing with moderate left, liberals, and extreme left, it all falls into one party. It’s an easier way to swing moderates one way or the other when you only have two choices. All they can do a siphon votes off a president or senator and they know it. Sometimes a two party system is an advantage, other times it’s a burden.
The Green Party, Libertarians, Constitution Party, Natural Law Party and others considered “third parties” do not count because.. well, that’s exactly what they are. They’re so small it’s unlikely for them to even get a seat in the House of Representatives, let alone the presidency. All they can do right now is siphon off votes from the running candidates, which can occasionally be the determining factor in elections.
